24-year-old Mexican lightweight Isaac Cruz has excellent chances of an early victory over former world champion Vasily Lomachenko, the father and coach of the Mexican, Isaac Cruz Sr., believes.
Lomachenko, 34, returned to the ring on October 29 against 26-year-old Jemaine Ortiz, which turned out to be more competitive than expected, in addition, Cruz Sr. builds his reasoning on Lomachenko's loss to Mexican Orlando Salido in 2014.
“It would be a copy of what Salido did against Lomachenko,” Cruz Sr. told Izquierdazo. “If Salido beat him then, at his age (33) and using his experience, then I have absolutely no doubt that we would have beaten Lomachenko.”
Recall that Cruz gained fame after his December fight against Gervonta Davis, and after that defeat in a close fight, he scored two early victories.
“I have no doubt that my son would have defeated Lomachenko, and I am sure that it would not have come to a decision of the judges,” Cruz Sr. said. - We would press just like Salido, we would not give him breaks, this is bad for Lomachenko. He's a very good boxer, but he's not used to that kind of pressure. My son never stops attacking."
