Fanyan Expresses Interest in Fighting Haney and Garcia: "But Preferably Not at the Same Time"

World champion in the super lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg), Aram Fanyan (24-2, 6 KOs), gave his prediction for the upcoming fight between WBC champion in the same division, Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).

"I think the Haney vs. Garcia fight will be like chess boxing. They are two smart boxers; I don’t see a reason for them to slug it out all fight. Besides, their height difference makes it inconvenient. But in the later rounds, it's quite possible that it turns into a brawl. In my view, Haney has the better boxing IQ, while Garcia might benefit from his anthropometry. They truly are some of the best fighters in my division. I can't say exactly who will win, but it’s about 60 to 40 in favor of Haney. I would like to face them both in the future. But preferably not at the same time in the ring, one at a time (laughs). For me, it doesn’t make much of a difference which one I fight first, I want to meet both.

Regarding the Sergey Derevyanchenko vs. Vonn Alexander fight in the undercard... I consider Sergey one of the strongest Ukrainian boxers of the 21st century. He has had fights that all our boxers could envy. I think at 38, Sergey still has the strength to compete at a serious level. If it were otherwise, he wouldn't be preparing and training. He already has money; I think he's boxing now not for the money.

It's quite possible that Sergey could challenge for a world championship belt for the fourth time; why not? As I said, he has the strength and the necessary experience at this level," said Fanyan. The fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is scheduled for April 20 in New York, USA. Aram Fanyan knocked out Francisco Mercado (8-4, 3 KOs) in the seventh round on January 20.
