Faniian: "I Was Not Surprised Garcia Beat Haney"

World champion WBF super lightweight (up to 63,5 kg) Aram Faniian (24-2, 6 KOs) commented on the fight between WBC champion in this category, Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs), and Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).

"Honestly, I was not surprised that Garcia beat Haney. I was confident before the fight that he would win, and I even bet with friends on it. Did you see his left hook? It's just impossible to keep up with. I think Devin underestimated his opponent, didn't expect him, despite all his psychological issues (which Ryan had previously discussed), to come to the fight in such psychological and physical form.

It would be interesting to see a rematch between them, Haney was after all the former undisputed lightweight champion. It would be interesting to see what conclusions he draws from the defeat and what he can counter Ryan with during a new meeting. However, it's not certain that we will see this rematch, as Garcia has already said that he will be competing in the welterweight division, and whether Haney will move up there remains a question.

As for Sergiy Derevyanchenko's victory on the card of this show, there's nothing much to discuss— the Ukrainian simply schooled Alexander. It's surprising how that guy still managed to last until the final gong. It's quite possible that if the referee hadn't made Sergiy step back to a greater distance after the knockdown in the 8th round, he would have finished him. It was an excellent performance from Derevyanchenko, who demonstrated that Sergiy is at the level of the top boxers in his weight," said Faniian.
