Fabio Wardley Sets Sights on Oleksandr Usyk’s Title

British heavyweight Fabio Wardley (18-0-1, 17 KOs) has revealed his ambitions to secure a world title shot in 2025.

According to Wardley, his goal is to fight for the WBA belt currently held by two-division undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs).

"The plan for this year is to either position myself at the top of the queue for a title shot or fight for a belt. I need to place myself correctly. Being ranked No. 1 in the WBA is a great way to start the year. Now, it’s about solidifying that, seizing the opportunity, and keeping this train moving.

In the end, we’re all just waiting to see what Usyk decides. Will he defend against his mandatories or vacate his belts? Will he fight Daniel Dubois? There are a lot of questions here.

Me and other fighters are standing on the sidelines, waiting for our shot. First, we need to see what Usyk chooses to do so we can make the right move. Calling out Usyk? It seems unlikely that our paths will cross, but if it ever happens, it would be an absolutely insane fight.", said Wardley.

In October, Wardley dominated Frazer Clarke, stopping him by first-round TKO. Clarke required an oxygen mask post-fight, followed by surgery on his jaw and facial bones.

In 2024, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury twice. His next likely opponent will be the winner of Daniel Dubois vs. Joseph Parker, who will fight for the IBF heavyweight title on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
