Ex-Champion: "Ryan Garcia Is Walking on a Razor's Edge"

In comments to talkSPORT, former world champion in three weight classes, Duke Mackenzie, called for the postponement of the bout between American super lightweight (up to 63.5 kg) Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) and WBC champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

"I think Ryan Garcia is walking on a razor's edge. Honestly, he could go either way. I believe when you're a world champion, you should act like a world champion. I really don't see that in Ryan Garcia right now. He has publicly stated that he smokes weed, drinks alcohol, and regularly gets drunk.

This is not what you expect from a world champion. These are signs of someone clearly on the edge. They need to pull him out. Someone needs to tell him, 'Ryan, you're not in the right state to fight.'

It's not too late. You can postpone the fight by three months, six months, depending on how long it takes for this guy to get right. This isn't rocket science; he could seriously get hurt and will seriously get hurt if this happens. I'm almost certain of it," said Mackenzie.

The fight between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney is scheduled for April 20th in New York, USA.
