Evander Holyfield Explains How Oleksandr Usyk Can Knock Out Fury

Former undisputed two-division champion Evander Holyfield shared his insight on how WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) could score a stoppage victory over former champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

"When I met Usyk, he told me: ‘I’m going to do what you did—become an undisputed champion in cruiserweight, move up to heavyweight, and become the champion there.’ I said, ‘More power to you.’ And you know what? He did it.

At this stage in their careers and at their age, they can only change small things. Usyk is a guy who throws a lot of punches. He has fast hands and excellent reflexes. He’s smaller, and maybe he’ll have to take a few shots to give a few back. Oleksandr will do what’s necessary to win.

Usyk is someone who always puts in a lot of work. I like that. I was the same way—when I had to work, I always gave my all.

I think if Usyk keeps landing consistently, he can knock Fury out. Tyson has height and reach, and he’s a good boxer. He’s hard to catch. It all comes down to timing, combination punching, and rhythm.

For some reason, they didn’t stop the first fight in the ninth round. I try not to argue about it because I’m a fighter myself. I trained to be the best. I like both of these guys. They’re both skilled, and whoever wins is a worthy winner. But I like Oleksandr. I think he’ll win on points," said Holyfield.

The rematch is set for December 21 in Riyadh.
