Eubank Jr.'s New Team Negotiating with Canelo

Insider Dan Rafael reports that negotiations between undisputed super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) and Chris Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24 KOs), who recently signed with the promotional company Boxxer, are ongoing.

It is stated that Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom is the lead negotiator on behalf of Eubank Jr., attempting to arrange a fight with PBC’s Al Haymon.

Former world champion and current expert Paulie Malignaggi believes that the British public will welcome this fight.

"You could see that Canelo is paving his way to a fight in England, where he would be welcomed with open arms. The English love boxing and superstar boxers. Oleksandr Usyk and Vasyl Lomachenko were met with great respect, even though they fought local guys.

England would love to host a fight for Canelo Alvarez. These boxing fans are the best in the world. They would cheer for Eubank, but obviously, they would be thrilled to have one of the biggest stars in boxing choose their place for his fight," Paul said on the ProBox TV YouTube channel.

However, Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn mentioned that this fight is not likely to happen soon.

"We had a conversation. More precisely, Frank Smith talked to Eubank Jr.'s team (Matchroom was also interested in signing the Brit, but Chris chose Boxxer). As I understand it, he wanted two tune-up fights for his return. He has been inactive for a long time, a whole year. I don't know how they feel about a fight with Canelo. I don't think this fight will happen.

I believe Eubank will come back in two easy fights in August-September and then in December," Hearn told Seconds Out.

In May, Canelo Alvarez won a unanimous decision against Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) to defend his undisputed title. Last year, Chris Eubank Jr. fought twice against Liam Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs), exchanging technical knockout victories.
