Former world middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) has shared his plans for 2023 following his fight with Liam Smith (32-3-1, 19 KOs). The Briton, in case of victory, wants to meet the middleweight world champion from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin and the absolute super middleweight world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
“Holovkin is number one because he has these middleweight belts and it's a fight that can and should be made. I think Canelo would be number two. He is a big name. He's a guy that everybody knows in the sport and I think I can beat him. Those will be two fights on my Christmas wish list for the rest of the year."
On the night of September 18, Alvarez defeated Golovkin by unanimous decision and defended his titles. Later, Saul underwent an operation on his left wrist. Canelo plans to return to the ring in May. Mandatory contender for the WBO belt John Ryder is called a possible opponent of Saul.
It will be recalled that Eubank Jr. twice held the title of interim WBA middleweight champion. In the last fight in February 2022, Chris won by decision of the referee Liam Williams. Yubenko Jr.'s fight will take place on January 21 in Manchester.
