According to American coach Robert Garcia, the powerhouse promotion company Matchroom Boxing has locked in the date for a clash between WBC Super Flyweight Champion Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3, 28 KOs) and IBF/WBO Light Flyweight Champion Jesse Rodriguez (19-0, 12 KOs).
Garcia confirmed that the bout is definitely on.
"From our side, the agreement is finalized; we're ready for the fight. Matchroom has scheduled the date for June. As I understand, Estrada initially planned to fight Ioka, but since Ioka has a mandatory defense lined up, Estrada is back in the picture. This morning, Matchroom informed me that everything looks good, so hopefully, we can make this happen," Garcia shared.
Last year, Rodriguez spectacularly unified the IBF and WBO belts with an early victory over the previously unbeaten Sunny Edwards. Juan Francisco hasn't stepped into the ring since December 2022, when he secured a majority decision win over Roman Gonzalez.
