"Licking His Lips." Head of Mayweather Promotions on Canelo vs. Munguia

Leonard Ellerbe, the head of Mayweather Promotions, explained why the fight against Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) is like a gift for the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).

"Canelo is just unmatched in counterpunching. And that means everything: precision and timing.

Let's be honest – Munguia is definitely not known for his defense. A few years ago, no one seriously discussed him as a potential opponent for Canelo.

You know what kind of fight this is for Canelo? It's the kind of fight you wait for, licking your lips," said Ellerbe.

Canelo will meet Munguia on May 4th in Las Vegas. This will be Alvarez's first fight against a Mexican opponent since 2017 when he won by decision against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
