Egor Golub on Berinchyk's Preparation: "Chopping Wood"

In an interview with the YouTube channel Tyk Maysun, coach of Ukrainian lightweight representative (up to 61,2 kg) Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) and ambassador for Ready To Fight Egor Golub, discussed the Ukrainian's preparation for his fight with WBO junior lightweight champion (up to 59 kg) Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs).

We've been training twice a day for a month now. We'll continue training approximately 3 weeks at two sessions a day, and then the camp will start, moving to three sessions.

How long is this direct camp phase supposed to last?

It will be about 3 weeks for sure, and then by the fourth week, I think we'll be heading to the USA for a gathering.

So, Valencia doesn't fully suit you?

No, we're in Alicante; I came to Valencia for football. We're in Alicante, and it doesn't suit because there's a 9-hour difference. Because of the time zone difference, we need to be there.

On Denys's social networks, we saw interesting stuff – he was chopping wood a-la Celentano, running with them through the mountains. What did you do in the camp? Whose notes are these?

We came up with it ourselves. Chopping wood. It's work that prepares the body for the training camp, so we're very powerful before the camp and go through the load without injuries.

Are you satisfied with the work done, Denys's condition?

Yes, we're gaining. I'm looking at the time — for example, we used to run uphill for 30 minutes, and now in these 30 minutes, we cover a larger distance. The strength is gradually coming.

The likely date for Denys Berinchyk's fight against Emanuel Navarrete will be May 18.
