Egis Klimas, the manager of IBF and IBO world champion in the lightweight division, Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), reflected on his client’s loss against Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).
“Undoubtedly, it was very painful. Sometimes your fighter loses in the ring, and you realize that he gave up. He didn’t perform as he should have and lost. That’s understandable—it might be that the opponent was stronger or better.
But when you face an unjust judges’ decision, it causes much more pain. It affects not only the team and the fighter but also the fans,” Klimas noted.
In May 2023, Devin Haney defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko by unanimous decision, successfully defending his title as the undisputed world champion in the lightweight division.
