British boxing bigwig Eddie Hearn hints that the long-anticipated face-off between Chris Eubank and Conor Benn is almost a done deal. Hearn spilled the beans, saying negotiations are in the final round:
"Behind the scenes, there's been a lot of jabbing and jiving with Kalle Sauerland and Team Eubank. But our main game? Keeping Conor in our corner. Trust me, you'll want ringside seats for this.
Our money's on a mid-to-late January bout on home turf. Let's just say we're on the verge of a knockout agreement," quipped Hearn.
Flashback to early 2023: Benn and Eubank were set to square off. But, a curveball was thrown when Conor's tests hinted at foul play. The plot twist? Subsequent tests came back cleaner than a ref's whistle.
With Benn sidelined, Eubank stepped into the ring with Liam Smith, only to bite the dust in the 4th round. Not one to back down, Chris came back swinging in September 2023, sending Smith to the mat with a knockout in the 10th.
