Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn spoke about the return of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) and named possible opponents for the British fighter.
"Yeah, to be honest, Dillian Whyte was probably the frontrunner, but now it looks like he’ll be facing Moses Itauma — that came out of nowhere.
Jared Anderson has also been mentioned. And obviously, Deontay Wilder is coming back soon. I think by the time AJ returns, he will have been out of the ring for over a year, and he’s still recovering from surgery. I don’t think Fury will be ready around the same time either. So I expect the opponent to be someone who gets him ready for a truly big fight in 2026 — which will probably be his last year in boxing," said Hearn.
Anthony Joshua last fought in September against Daniel Dubois, losing by knockout in the fifth round. In May, the Brit underwent elbow surgery. According to Eddie Hearn, Joshua is expected to return to the ring in the fall.
