Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on a potential showdown between former British champions Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).
“We’re only interested in two fights: a rematch with Daniel Dubois and a fight with Tyson Fury. Anthony Joshua would like another chance to become a heavyweight world champion. Now, a fight with Fury can very well happen. Maybe it’s not as huge as it could have been before, but it still remains the biggest fight in world boxing. Name me another fight that’s bigger. There isn’t one. Joshua vs. Fury is the biggest fight in boxing.
Once the dust settles, I think it’ll come down to talks between me, Frank, and our teams. Right now, I doubt Tyson is even thinking about getting back into the ring. He’s still upset and will probably spend time with his family. I’ve named two names that matter to us for Joshua. Now name two for Tyson Fury. He only has one,” Hearn said.
In September, Anthony Joshua lost by fifth-round knockout to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois.
On December 21, Tyson Fury was defeated by unanimous decision by Oleksandr Usyk, the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
