Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed what motivates former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to return to the ring and named his most desired opponent.
"Joshua will be back with a hunger to win. After Saturday, we’ll start planning AJ’s next move.
Without Tyson Fury, the priority for Anthony is a fight for the world heavyweight title, and he likely won’t want to face Oleksandr Usyk again. It’s the winner of the Saturday fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker. The only thing I know is that AJ wants to fight Fury, he wants to box for the world heavyweight title, and that’s it.
Maybe in a week, two, or three, we’ll talk to Fury and say: 'Just so you know, if you don’t want to fight Joshua this summer, in August or September, and if you plan to come back from retirement—now is the time to do it,'" Hearn stated.
The title fight Hearn refers to will take place on February 22 in Riyadh, where Daniel Dubois defends his belt against Joseph Parker. Detailed stats and analysis of this matchup can be found at the provided link.
