Eddie Hearn on the Catterall vs. Prograis Fight: "It's Quite Unusual for Two Top-5 Fighters to Face Each Other"

Head of the promotional company Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn shared his expectations for the upcoming bout between British fighter Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) and American Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) in an interview with Ready to Fight.

"It's a very good fight, and it’s quite unusual for two top-5 contenders to face each other. In such cases, fighters usually try to avoid these kinds of matchups and just wait for their title shot. But I like this, and I believe Jack is showing great courage. If Jack beats Regis Prograis, no one can deny his right to a title fight, especially against the winner of the Paro – Hitchins bout.

I think that’s how it will play out. This is truly a high-class, world-level fight. I like the Bellotti vs. Gomez fight, and I also like the rematch between Campbell Hatton (against James Flint – ed.). Plus, it’s exciting to be in a new arena. Manchester City has been very kind to us; they have really supported the show, and there will be about eight thousand people there tomorrow, so the atmosphere will be fantastic. We love the Manchester Arena, but it’s interesting to be in a different setting," said Hearn.

The bout between Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis is scheduled for October 26 in Manchester, United Kingdom. In May, Catterall won a unanimous decision against Josh Taylor (19-2, 13 KOs). Prograis last stepped into the ring in December, losing a unanimous decision to Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).
