George Kambosos announced his readiness to fight Vasyl Lomachenko

Former world lightweight champion George Kambosos has announced his readiness to fight former three-division world champion Vasyl Lomachenko in Australia.

"I really want to continue to achieve more and I know that I will become a two-time world champion. With all due respect to Lomachenko and regardless of what happens in this fight [with Haynie], I would still like to fight Lomachenko, no matter how old he is or how he looks."

“This fight was almost done when I had all the belts. So I would like to do this fight and maybe have a big fight in a stadium here in Australia. We are big names here. I have a big name, he has a big name. It's obvious that we can fill this stadium as much as possible."

Kambosos lost twice to Haynie for the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. In the second fight in Melbourne, all the judges gave victory to Haney: 119–109, 118–110, 118–110.

Vasyl Lomachenko could have had a title fight with Kambosos, but he refused it against the background of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. It was the first and only match for the Ukrainian in 10 months.

According to the results of the fight, all three judges gave victory to Lomachenko - 115:113, 116:112 and 117:111. For the Ukrainian, this victory was the 17th in the professional ring, for the American, the loss was the first in the professional arena.

Lomachenko is scheduled to fight Devin Haney in mid-March 2023. The fight could take place in the Middle East, in Las Vegas or in Madison Square Garden in New York.
