Ex-Champion McKenzie Picks Opponents for Usyk and Dubois

Former world champion Duke McKenzie believes the time is not right for a heavyweight rematch between WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).

Instead, McKenzie suggests that Dubois should finally face WBO interim champion Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs)—a fight originally scheduled for February 22, before Dubois pulled out due to illness. As for Usyk, the British pundit recommends a showdown with undefeated German contender Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs).

“Dubois vs. Parker should be next. It’s still an exciting fight. Unfortunately, Daniel had to withdraw, but he’ll recover soon, and they should reschedule it as a main event.

Simply put, Parker deserves it. He beat Deontay Wilder and now a dangerous Martin Bakole. They should consider that fight, but from a business perspective, the biggest money fight is obviously Usyk.

Dubois has unfinished business with Usyk and believes he can avenge that loss. But ideally, Parker should get his shot at Dubois, and Usyk could fight someone like Agit Kabayel. Then, the winners of those fights should face off against each other.”

McKenzie’s take adds another perspective to the heavyweight division’s unfolding drama, as fans await official announcements for Usyk and Dubois’ next moves.
