Frank Warren, head of Queensberry Promotions, has revealed that newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois could be in line to face Derek Chisora, depending on how the title picture unfolds.
“Derek Chisora is the mandatory challenger for Dubois via the IBF, so that fight may have to happen—if Dubois doesn’t face Oleksandr Usyk instead.
But the IBF would allow a unification bout if we get WBO approval. We’ve already requested a mandatory be ordered between Joseph Parker and Usyk, and that’s now been done.
So there are three possible paths: a unification fight — Usyk vs. Dubois; a title defense — Dubois vs. Parker; vacating the belt — and then the next steps. Now the ball is in Usyk’s court.
Four belts are the obvious priority, and I believe this fight (Usyk–Dubois rematch) could sell out Wembley or become a huge event in Riyadh, especially considering how controversial their first bout was.
Dubois has improved a lot since then, so it would be very interesting to see how a rematch plays out.
As for Parker, none of this impacts him—he retains his interim WBO champion status, which means he’ll fight the winner.
We’ll find him another fight in the meantime—possibly even on the undercard of Usyk vs. Dubois. If that fight doesn’t happen, Parker will likely face someone from the WBO Top 10 in a voluntary defense," said Warren.
Dubois and Usyk previously fought in 2023, with Usyk winning by knockout. Recently, Derek Chisora also called for a rematch with Usyk, potentially stirring more intrigue in the heavyweight division.
