On December 23rd, Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) claimed one of the biggest victories of his career by stopping the previously unbeaten Jarrell Miller (26-1-1, 22 KOs) in the tenth round of their fight in Saudi Arabia. Following the win, Daniel wasted no time in calling out Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) for a fight.
In an interview with Boxing Social, the coach of the British heavyweight boxer (over 90.7 kg), Don Charles, commented on the potential face-off against the Croatian Hrgovic.
"Daniel secured a victory against Miller, and before that, he fought Usyk for world titles, so he can't step back, he can only move forward, hence the call-out to Hrgovic—it's one of the names he wants to fight.
It was such a reward for the victory [over Miller]. I've only been with Daniel for two fights, so we're working hard, and people will see the evidence of that in his future fights.
I'm a coach, so I stay in my lane, I leave it to the promoter. I'm offered fights, and I say 'yes' or 'no', depending on whether I think they're good fights for Daniel," Charles said.
The heavyweight division is set for a series of big fights soon: Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) against Francis Ngannou (0-1), interim WBO champion Zhang Zhilei (26-1-1, 21 KOs) will meet Joseph Parker (34-3, 23 KOs), and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) will box against the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles, Oleksandr Usyk, for the undisputed world champion title.
