Sam Jones, advisor to former heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois, shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between his fighter and Anthony Joshua.
“If the fight with Tyson Fury doesn’t happen, the only option for Anthony Joshua is a rematch with Daniel Dubois. Dubois’ team is open to negotiations. I truly believe that if the Fury fight falls through, Joshua will run it back with Daniel.
He’s always chased rematches. After the loss to Andy Ruiz — he took the rematch. He tried to get the rematch after the defeat to Usyk. Anthony Joshua will want revenge again, and that’s why I see this fight happening in the future.
And we could stage it in Africa. It would be enormous — like a modern ‘Rumble in the Jungle’,” Jones said.
The first fight between Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO) and Anthony Joshua (28-4, 5 KO) took place in September 2024 and ended with Dubois winning by knockout in the fifth round. Since then, Joshua has not returned to the ring, while Dubois was knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk in July 2025 in a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
