Dubois Explains Why His Low Blow on Usyk Was Legitimate

IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has once again defended the controversial body shot he landed on Oleksandr Usyk during their first fight, claiming it was a legal blow — and that it should’ve ended the contest.

Do you feel like you were robbed that night?

Yeah, absolutely.

Do you believe that body shot in round five was legitimate?

Yes. It landed. You didn’t see him holding his nuts. He just went down — that was a clean knockout.

So you believe you knocked him out?

Yes, said Dubois.

In their original bout, Usyk stopped Dubois via ninth-round knockout. The Ukrainian was given time to recover in round five after a low blow, which Dubois maintains should have ended the fight in his favor.

The rematch is scheduled to take place on July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London.
