Doping Expert Explains Garcia's Failed Test

Victor Conte, former president of the now-defunct BALCO company that was exposed for developing new types of steroids, commented on Ryan Garcia's (25-1, 20 KOs) positive doping test.

"First of all, Ryan needs to stop spreading misinformation. He says, 'If they found doping before the fight, why did they let the fight happen?' Samples were collected on April 19th and 20th. STAT results take at least 72 hours. There are no results before the fight.

Ryan's team's claim of only 'a tiny amount' is misleading. Anabolic steroids and agents are qualitative, not quantitative tests. You're either pregnant or you're not. Claiming a small amount is like saying he's only 'a little bit pregnant.'

Ryan holds a bottle of Ashwagandha and says, 'I shouldn't have taken this,' suggesting it could be the source of the positive tests. He will have a chance to prove if that was the source or not to the New York commission," Conte said.

On April 21st, Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney. Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion, as Ryan did not meet the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
