The absolute champion of the world in lightweight, Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KO) turned to the former holder of these titles, Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KO).
"I don't have any fights scheduled yet. I could go up to welterweight and tear you apart. I have a lot to do in this weight class. I pray you enjoy your five minutes of fame. And remember that you chose Kambosos to kick your ass instead of me. You went in a different direction and it almost cost you your life. You have to make the right decisions," Haney said.
It should be noted that in 2020, Lopez solidified his status as the undisputed lightweight world champion by defeating Vasyl Lomachenko in a highly-anticipated unification bout. However, in 2021, he lost his titles to George Kambosos (20-2, 10 KO), and suffered two subsequent losses against Haney.
