WBC junior welterweight champion-in-recess Devin Haney has officially confirmed his move to the welterweight division (66.68 kg / 147 lbs).
"The world wants to see what Devin Haney can do, and on May 2, I’m going to answer all those questions.
Without a doubt, the time has come to move up to welterweight. My body is ready. Making 140 lbs was tough for me—I felt good in one fight, but in the next, I didn’t feel the same, and it was a struggle."
On May 2, Haney will fight Jose Ramirez in New York’s Times Square. Reports previously suggested that two weight options were being considered, and now welterweight has been confirmed.
