On the night of December 9th to 10th, former undisputed lightweight world champion (up to 61.2 kg) Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) made his debut in the super lightweight category (up to 63.5 kg). His bout against WBC champion Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) ended with Haney winning by unanimous decision: 120-107 three times.
This is the second fight in 2023 for both athletes. Previously, Prograis won by split decision against Danielito Zorrilla, and Devin Haney defended his lightweight title with a victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko, after which he announced his move to the super lightweight division.
Additionally, as a result of this fight, all the lightweight titles held by Haney remained vacant. Now, there is only one active champion in the division - Shakur Stevenson according to the WBO. The WBA has only a regular champion - Gervonta Davis.
