Haney recently spoke about the highly anticipated match, stating that although it may not be the biggest fight in the lightweight division, it is undoubtedly the most challenging at this point in his career.
"I wouldn't say this is the biggest fight I could have made at 135 pounds, but definitely the toughest. The guy with the credentials and the experience [is Lomachenko], for sure."
Haney acknowledges that there are more lucrative fights available, but he's focused on building his legacy. "There are definitely bigger money fights out there. I could have sat back and waited for it. But this is legacy. Loma has the credentials and was pound for pound No. 1 at a time," Haney told Boxing Scene.
As a reminder, the showdown between Haney and Lomachenko is scheduled for May 20 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
