American coach Derrick James has filed a lawsuit against his former boxer and ex-world champion Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) in Dallas.
James is seeking $5 million in damages, which he claims is half the amount that Errol still owes for preparing for the fight against Terence Crawford, which took place in July last year. In that match, Spence lost by TKO.
In response, Errol has filed a counterclaim.
It is worth noting that Derrick James was Spence's first coach and led him to the status of a unified champion.
