Ukrainian middleweight (up to 76,2 kg) boxer Sergiy Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) has teased career news on the horizon.
"News coming soon," Derevyanchenko posted, sharing a photo with his manager during the Garcia-Haney press conference.
The last time Sergiy stepped into the ring was in June 2023, where he faced a narrow defeat against Jaime Munguia. This bout was hailed as the fight of the year by Boxing Scene and ESPN.
In 2024, Derevyanchenko was slated to face Rowdy Montgomery (10-5-1, 7 KOs). However, the bout, initially scheduled for January 6th, was canceled due to an injury the Ukrainian boxer sustained during a training camp.
Sergiy's manager later expressed their continued desire for a rematch against Munguia:
"Everyone acknowledged the Derevyanchenko vs. Munguia fight as the best bout of the year. It's a rematch that cannot be missed. I don't know a single person who wouldn't want to see this rematch."
