Derevyanchenko Receives Belt for Fight of the Year

Ukrainian middleweight (up to 76,2 kg) boxer Sergiy Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KOs) has been awarded the "Fight of the Year" belt by the Boxing Writers Association of America.

This accolade was presented just before his match against Vaughn Alexander (18-11-1, 11 KOs). Sergiy received the award for his fight against Mexican Jaime Munguia, which took place in June 2023. Derevyanchenko lost that fight by a close decision.

The bout against Alexander was Derevyanchenko's first since that defeat, and he won by unanimous decision.

Besides the Boxing Writers Association of America, the bout against Munguia was also named "Fight of the Year" by ESPN and BoxingScene.
