Deontay Wilder, the ex-WBC heavyweight champ known as "The Bronze Bomber" (43-2-1, 42 KOs), has dropped a hint about his return to boxing's limelight:
"Truth be told, the heavyweight division's been yawn-worthy lately. I'm the spark it's been missing. Is it a coincidence it's dull without me? Eyeing a comeback in mid to late January. Get ready, 2024's going to be a showstopper. Just a countdown until I'm back on top, wearing the crown," Wilder said in a chat with Blue Blood Sports TV.
Wilder last left fans stunned with a first-round knockout of Robert Helenius in 2022. Now, there's talk about a face-off with Andy Ruiz, as ordered by the WBC, for the belt that Tyson Fury currently holds.
Wilder's also flirting with the idea of trying his fists in the UFC to make a splash in mixed martial arts.
