Shelly Finkel, manager of former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder, has shared details about his fighter’s comeback plans and named potential rivals.
“He’s planning to return to the ring at the end of this year or early next year. Our first choice is Joshua. If that fight can’t be made and there’s a chance to get Usyk, that would work for us as well.
I believe a fight with Joshua is the biggest one for him. Yes, it’s not as massive as it once was, but it’s still huge. With a strong undercard, it could even sell out Wembley.
If Eddie Hearn thinks that after Allen’s win over Deontay, his fighter would be right at the top — he’s right. But it would come at a price.
Based on Wilder’s recent fights against Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker, I understand why people have doubts. But Deontay can erase them — and that’s exactly what he needs to do,” said Finkel in an interview with BoxNation.
In June, Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) defeated Tyrell Herndon via seventh-round TKO. Before that, the Bronze Bomber had suffered four losses in his previous five bouts.
