Former WBO lightweight world champion Denys Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) has undergone successful shoulder surgery, according to his promoter, Alexander Krassyuk.
The recovery period may take up to six months, but the 37-year-old Ukrainian has no intention of retiring.
“There’s still powder in his keg. I believe he’ll be back,” Krassyuk said.
In February, Berinchyk lost his title in a bout against Keyshawn Davis, who stopped him with a knockout in the fourth round. Shortly after that defeat, Denys also underwent nasal surgery.
