'A Deadly Blow to Boxing.' Arum on the Amazon and PBC Agreement

Promoter Bob Arum commented on the multi-year agreement between Premier Boxing Champions and the streaming platform Amazon Prime:

"First and foremost, the people at Amazon Prime are top-notch. We have experience working with them on various shows in Japan, plus we recently renewed a cooperation agreement.

It's a great organization, and we hope they can replicate in the US what they've done in Japan. The only thing I'm hoping for is that they won't overload the platform with pay-per-view events and will offer more free events.

If Al doesn't proportionally use the platform for PPV broadcasts, it will be a disaster for the sport. I've always believed that there should be a few pay-per-view fights, and that the majority of them, or as many as possible, should be free for the consumer.

If they are going to show all their fights on a pay-per-view basis, it will be a deadly blow to boxing as a sport," said Arum.

The agreement between Amazon Prime and PBC provides the exclusive right to broadcast the company's boxing evenings in the US and some other countries on a pay-per-view basis. The main event of the first PBC boxing evening on Amazon will be the fight between Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman. It is scheduled for March 30.
