De La Hoya Speaks: The 3 Warriors Who Could Dethrone Canelo!

Oscar De La Hoya, the former world champion turned Golden Boy Promotions honcho, recently weighed in on the fighters who could potentially outclass his ex-protégé, Saul Canelo Alvarez.

De La Hoya's first pick, Benavidez, is a force to be reckoned with. "Benavidez is sure to give Canelo a run for his money," Oscar mused. "And so will Andrade. But the real question is, can Benavidez handle Andrade first?" He expressed some doubts about Demetrius's ability to withstand the heavy artillery of the elite 76-pounders, yet acknowledged, "Demetrius is quite the skilled boxer in his own right."

The promoter didn't stop there. He threw another name into the mix: David Morell. "Some might say Morell's overhyped, but we won't know until he's tested in a high-stakes bout. From what the boxing insiders tell me, this guy is in a league of his own," he stated.

The showdown between Benavidez and Andrade is set for November 26 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the Cuban sensation David Morell (9-0, 8 KOs), aged 25, last showcased his prowess in the ring in spring 2023, taking down Yamaguchi Falcao with a first-round knockout.
