In a new episode on the DAZN Boxing YouTube channel, Golden Boy head Oscar De La Hoya met with colleague Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) and discussed the principles of organizing boxing matches.
"A fight has to make sense. I've been in the promotion business for 22 years, and the reason why we have succeeded is because we make the right fights, and the right fights at the right time.
And if Eddie has fighters that make sense for us, for Golden Boy, then we are very happy, we are open to making it happen on DAZN. We have one platform, we should work together more often. We need to be leaders in boxing and show the world that we want to make great fights for the fans, and that's the main thing.
I believe that when you have the right talent and you nurture it correctly, you can create stars. You just have to make sure you have the right opponents, the right marketing, the right platform.
I mean, DAZN has been incredible. Eddie Hearn has done a fantastic job in promoting these fighters and ensuring that boxing is alive. What you have done in the UK is phenomenal. I would love to go to the UK and work there, as he does here in the US. It can only help boxing.
So, I just feel that as long as we can come together, there's no reason why we shouldn't be astonishing with our scale," said De La Hoya.
Recently, Hearn presented the regulations for a 5x5 tournament between Matchroom and Queensberry.
