Oscar on Haney vs. Ramirez & Ryan vs. Rolly: "He’ll Shatter That Glass Chin"

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya believes WBC junior welterweight "champion in recess" Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) stands no chance against former champion Jose Carlos Ramirez (29-1, 18 KOs).

"I think Ramirez is going to shatter Devin Haney’s glass chin. That’s exactly how it’s going to happen. Ramirez is a fighter who’s always in the gym, always ready, always focused—he doesn’t mess around. He’s going to pressure Haney. This is his moment.

As a fighter, I can tell you this: after Ryan Garcia knocked out Devin Haney, his jaw will never be the same. His confidence, his mentality—they will never be the same again," De La Hoya stated.

De La Hoya also shared his thoughts on the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando "Rolly" Romero fight:

"Rolly is a one-punch phenomenon. He can knock you out with either hand. But at the same time, he knows how to market himself. He always finds a way to land big fights—even if he gets knocked out.

But I have no doubt Ryan is going to knock him out. I’m really excited for Ryan Garcia’s return. I think he’s great for boxing. This sport needs Ryan Garcia," said De La Hoya.

Both fights will take place on May 2 in New York City's Times Square as part of a major boxing event.
