De La Hoya Expresses Disrespect for Canelo

Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy Promotions, who previously worked with the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, stated that he only respects the Mexican as a boxer.

This statement came after Canelo mentioned he did not wish to be friends with him.

"Canelo says all this shit? That says it all, he talks shit. The fact is, he can't be around me because it takes the focus off him. It's important to him, and it fucks with his head. I don’t understand it because he’s a great fighter, I respect him as a fighter, but I don’t respect him as a person. Even Ryan Garcia recalled how Canelo is a jealous guy. He can't shift the focus away from himself, I get that," said De La Hoya.

Canelo's next fight against Golden Boy fighter Jaime Munguia is scheduled for May 4 in Las Vegas.
