Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy Promotions and promoter for Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), responded to a statement by Bill Haney, father and coach of WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), who said his son would go out to kill Ryan.
"This is a fight. It's a fight, but you can't overdo it, you know? They're trying to hype themselves up. Yes, it's much more than what I experienced as a fighter. Definitely more. Much more," said De La Hoya. Recall, on April 16th, Garcia and Haney had a face-off on the roof of the Empire State Building.
The boxers quickly became heated and clashed with shouts. Ultimately, Haney pushed Ryan.
Following this, Bill Haney declared that his son would go to kill Ryan: "If he dies, he dies, as Drago (Ivan Drago - a fictional Soviet-Russian character from the Rocky film series. First appeared in the 1985 film 'Rocky IV') said. This is not a game; I'm sending my son to kill him."
The fight between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney is scheduled for April 20th in New York, USA.
