The highly anticipated bout between WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis and Dominican contender Edwin De Los Santos has officially fallen through, according to ESPN insider Salvador Rodriguez.
“Top Rank is now looking for a new opponent for Keyshawn Davis, who’s scheduled to fight on June 7 in Norfolk, Virginia, after Edwin De Los Santos—despite a prior verbal agreement—declined the latest offer,” Rodriguez reported.
Shortly after the news broke, De Los Santos responded on social media:
“I’ll be sharing the details in a few hours,” he wrote.
Amid speculation that De Los Santos had been offered $400,000 for the bout, the fighter clarified:
“Just look at this—I never even heard about $400K. My promoter offered me $225,000.”
