Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, revealed in a comment for Pro Boxing Fans that the WBA lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) has declined the proposed fight against British welterweight boxer (up to 66.67 kg) Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs).
According to Hearn, negotiations are now underway for a fight between Benn and Danny Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs), along with a list of four to five alternative options.
It's worth noting that it was Gervonta who first spoke about a fight against Benn, stating that after Benn's last fight against Peter Dobson (victory by UD in 12 rounds), where Benn appeared to be underperforming, Davis felt he could move up in weight and easily defeat him.
