Keyshawn Davis, WBO lightweight titleholder, shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated clash between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs):
“In my opinion, Canelo no longer has the same passion for boxing that he had at the beginning of his career. But even so, he remains one of the best in the game. After the fight with [Jaime] Munguia, many said Canelo isn’t the same anymore—that he’s lost a step. But that’s unfair to Munguia—he’s a very strong opponent and deserves respect.
Often, fighters who aren’t big names get underestimated because people are used to seeing dominant performances from familiar stars. That makes others seem less significant, even when that’s not the case. I believe Crawford can stop anyone—even Canelo. He’s got everything it takes: skill, power, speed, and boxing IQ. It’s the full package,” Davis said
The showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford is set for September 12 in Las Vegas, with Canelo’s undisputed super middleweight crown (168 lbs / 76.2 kg) on the line.
