British heavyweight David Allen reflected on his bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov, admitting that the Russian was the better man on the night.
“I was surprised — his speed caught me off guard. I didn’t think he’d punch that fast. When the final bell rang, I didn’t know how many rounds I’d won — maybe three.
A 9–3 score would have been fair. I might have won the ninth round, one somewhere in the middle, maybe the twelfth — I don’t know, I haven’t rewatched the fight yet. At that moment, I thought: 9–3 sounds right, I lost, that’s it. Honestly, I just wasn’t good enough,” said Allen.
On October 11, David Allen (24-8-2, 19 KOs) lost to Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight 117–109, 116–110, and 115–111 in favor of the Russian.
