Allen: “After the Makhmudov Fight, I Thought: ‘Maybe That’s It’”

David Allen / Ring Magazine

British heavyweight David Allen has revealed that he briefly thought about retiring after his loss to Arslanbek Makhmudov, though he now expects to fight again before the end of 2025.

“After the fight, I thought, ‘Maybe that’s it.’ But ten minutes ago, Eddie [Hearn] texted me: ‘Let’s get something arranged before the end of the year.’

Crazy, right? This is a tough game, and it’s hard to walk away from it. I’m hurting right now, I’m not the best boxer in the world, but I love it. I love to compete. If I could, I’d do it every day,” said Allen.

David Allen (24-8-2, 19 KOs) lost to Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision on October 11.
