Holder of the WBA Continental, WBO International, and IBF Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight titles Daniel Lapin reflected on his victory over Lewis Edmondson.
— I assess it as a win for me. From his side, that wasn’t boxing — it was just street dirt. If you look at the stats — punches thrown and landed — you can see a huge advantage on my side.
— What were you thinking when you were stuck on the ropes?
— First of all, when I was stuck on the ropes, it wasn’t even my back — my arm went behind my back. There was a moment, you can check it, when I jumped to pull my arm out, because it got trapped the most.
I was thinking: ‘Where is the referee looking in this fight?’ It felt like he was judging one way — in Edmondson’s favor. He allowed him to do absolutely everything: hit me to the back of the head, step on my feet, constantly butt in with his head, hit with his head.
On July 19, Daniel Lapin (12-0, 4 KOs) defeated Lewis Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs) by majority decision. The judges’ scores: 95-95, and 96-94 twice in Lapin’s favor.
Lapin’s next fight is scheduled for November 1 in Manchester, United Kingdom, against Troy Jones (12-1, 6 KOs).
