Former world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has agreed to an IBF eliminator bout against Frank Sanchez, reports Sky Sports.
The winner will become the mandatory challenger for the IBF title currently held by undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Earlier, both Efe Ajagba and Moses Itauma declined to face Sanchez, with Richard Torrez initially considered as the next possible opponent.
Negotiations between Dubois’ and Sanchez’s teams must conclude by October 22. If no deal is reached, the IBF will order a purse bid.
Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) was declared IBF champion after Usyk vacated the title in June last year, later defending it by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round in September.
On July 19, Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) stopped Dubois in the fifth round of their undisputed heavyweight rematch.
The WBO has since ordered Usyk to face the winner of Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley.
