Daniel Dubois: “I Should Have Won the First Fight Against Usyk”

IBF heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) has shared his expectations ahead of his highly anticipated rematch against WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).

This is the fight I wanted and demanded, and now I’ve got my shot at redemption against Oleksandr Usyk. I should have won the first fight, but the referee’s decision robbed me of victory. This time, I won’t leave any doubts — especially not in front of my people at the national stadium in my hometown.

I’ve become a stronger, more dangerous fighter since then, and Usyk will feel it on July 19. I want to thank my promoter Frank Warren for securing this fight. I plan to repay him by becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” said Dubois.

The rematch between Usyk and Dubois is set for July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom, with the title of undisputed heavyweight champion on the line (over 90.7 kg).

In their first encounter, held in August 2023, Usyk defeated Dubois by ninth-round knockout.

Later, in December, Usyk scored a unanimous decision win over Tyson Fury.

Earlier this year, Daniel Dubois was scheduled to defend his title against Joseph Parker, but withdrew due to illness.
