British Heavyweight Daniel Dubois has commented on his most recent defeat in the rematch against undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The 25-year-old former world champion explained that he viewed the setback as a chance to grow. According to Dubois, he used the time to reflect and is now preparing for the next stage of his career.
“You know, I’ve just been reflecting on everything, and now I’m preparing for the next step. I’ve still got a lot ahead of me, but yes, it’s been a time for reflection.
I faced one of the best boxers in the world, and a southpaw at that. Sure, I could have performed better, but sometimes that’s how it goes. And I don’t feel broken or crushed — I just need to learn, know myself better, and improve,” said Dubois.
On July 19, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) defeated Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) by a fifth-round knockout in their rematch, becoming a three-time undisputed Heavyweight champion.
