Former champion Steve Cunningham shared his expectations for the absolute championship fight between Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
"I believe Usyk can beat Fury for two reasons. First, Usyk's skills are incredible. His movement is phenomenal, he's awkward. He thinks differently, uses angles. What we're seeing now is the highest level of boxing. He can land punches that will frustrate Fury.
The second reason is his team, his management. His manager is Egis Klimas. They have influence in Europe and all over the world. Egis is great at handling fighters and protecting them. We all know Fury employs certain tactics that are on the edge. He hasn't been disqualified before, but he's always on the brink.
All he does is take a few shots on the block and lean on his opponent throughout the fight. He did it against me, he did it with Wilder. He did it with fighters he wanted to wear down. Later, you look fresh, and they are worn out because they've been carrying a 260-pound body (nearly 118 kg)," Cunningham said for iFL TV.
The new date for the Usyk and Fury fight is May 18. Fury faced Cunningham, who managed to knock down his opponent but lost by stoppage in the 7th round.
